About the role

Job summary

A PhD position is available to conduct research on the generation of optical quantum states, specifically focusing on photon pairs and entangled photon states in silicon core fibers. The role is funded by the independent research fund Denmark and is based at a technical university. The candidate will work within a team aimed at demonstrating the generation of these quantum states and exploring their applications in quantum metrology, including sensing and imaging.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in photonics, electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge in quantum optics, nonlinear optics, and optical waveguide optics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental research into the generation of photon pairs and entangled photons using four wave mixing.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to related projects within the department.
  • Participate in teaching and outreach activities as required.
  • Complete a minimum 3-month secondment with an international collaborator.

Skills

  • Strong background in experimental optics and related theoretical/numerical methods.

Education

  • Required: Master's degree in a relevant field.
