About the role

Job summary

This PhD position focuses on investigating the effects of dissolved carbon dioxide and other water quality parameters on the production performance of Atlantic salmon in recirculating aquaculture systems. The role involves conducting experimental research, participating in measurement campaigns, and contributing to teaching.

Qualifications

  • Relevant M.Sc. degree in biology, aquaculture, engineering, or similar (equivalent to a two-year master's degree)
  • Strong academic skills and motivation for research
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in written and oral communication in English

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct fish experiments in aquaculture facilities
  • Collect biological samples and observational data
  • Participate in degassing trials and perform biological and water quality analyses
  • Disseminate scientific results
  • Complete required PhD coursework and conduct an external research stay
  • Teach and supervise MSc students

Skills

  • Interest in fish physiology and production biology
  • Familiarity with dissolved gases in water and gas transfer technology

Education

  • Must have a relevant two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points)
