Specialist, Consumer Insights – Shopper & Retail, Interim

 

Role Overview 

Are you passionate about understanding shopper behaviour and enhancing retail experiences? As a Consumer Insights Specialist – Shopper & Retail, you will play a key role in connecting brand desire with in-store execution. You will uncover insights that drive conversion, optimize the shopper journey, and elevate the retail experience across touchpoints. 

This role focuses on mapping the path to purchase, testing in-store elements, and monitoring post-purchase satisfaction to inform strategic decisions across retail, merchandising, and marketing. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Path to Purchase Mapping: Analyse shopper journeys across channels to identify conversion barriers and drivers. 

  • In-Store Experience Optimization: Evaluate and enhance store layout, design, and window execution to improve shopper engagement. 

  • Insight Integration: Synthesize shopper behaviour across touchpoints to uncover opportunities for journey optimization and retail enhancement. 

  • Assortment Presentation Testing: Test and refine product presentation formats (e.g., trays, displays, sales ceremony) to maximize appeal and conversion. 

  • Packaging Testing: Assess packaging appeal and functionality as a key purchase influencer. 

  • Pricing Insights: Support pricing strategy through elasticity and sensitivity analysis. 

  • Partner with CRM to: Track post-purchase satisfaction and loyalty, integrate insights across the customer lifecycle,  

 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience in consumer/shopper insights, retail strategy, or related fields. 

  • Strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. 

  • Experience in shopper journey mapping, in-store testing, and packaging evaluation. 

  • Familiarity with NPS tracking and loyalty metrics. 

  • Excellent storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights. 

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. 

  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken); familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools. 

  • Degree in Marketing, Business, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Analytical thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving. 

  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills. 

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
