If you are motivated by developing second-to-none chemical analyses, creating and turning complex data into meaningful insights and enjoy working at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and food science, you could be our new Senior Scientist.
 

As a Senior Scientist, you will be a key contributor to our scientific capabilities within analytical and flavor chemistry. You will work at a high technical level, combining deep scientific expertise with a hands-on approach. In this role, the main function is to keep all equipment functional, making trouble shooting when needed, and develop new analytical methods for different purposes. In addition, data handling and interpretation is an important part of the work. The position offers a high degree of independence alongside close collaboration with experienced colleagues.

You will be part of a team of 15 laboratory technicians and scientists driven by scientific curiosity and a commitment to high-quality research. We work across chemistry, biology, and food science, using advanced analytical technologies to understand complex systems and generate valuable insights.
 

You will join a collaborative, international environment where knowledge sharing, high scientific standards, and continuous development are central to how we work. Our department is an analytical service unit for all business areas in Novonesis, and an important part of the role will be to keep in contact with different stakeholders, understanding their needs for specific projects and deliver results in due time.

In this role, you’ll make an impact by:

• Leading advanced analytical chemistry work within food and flavor science, including detection and quantification of flavor compounds

• Working hands-on with biological systems, fermentation, and complex food matrices

• Interpreting and critically evaluating large datasets using MassHunter, ChromaTOF, Chromeleon, JMP, and Excel

• Driving projects independently while managing multiple tasks in parallel

• Collaborating closely with colleagues and different stakeholders, clearly communicating scientific results

Potentially relevant experience:

• MSc in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field; PhD is an advantage

• Proven, experienced scientist with a strong track record in analytical and flavor chemistry

• Expert in analytical techniques, including headspace, GC-MS, GC-FID, and GC×GC-MS ; experience with LC-MS, IC, or HPLC is an advantage

• Background in food or flavor chemistry with experience in biological systems, fermentation, microbial, and/or food chemistry is an advantage

• Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art tools for flavor analytics and skilled at managing large datasets using MassHunter, ChromaTOF, Chromeleon, JMP, and Excel

• Highly self-motivated and collaborative, able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams with strong communication skills

• Fluent in English with the technical ability to critically evaluate raw data and scientific results
