Senior Principal DCS Solutions Specialist

As our Principal Solutions specialist within Distributed Control Systems, you will lead our automation development in critical capacity projects worldwide. You will set the direction for global solutions within ABB 800xA system development and set the global guardrails for application coding standardization. You will together with key internal stakeholders, define global standards and better practices for 800xA in CAPEX projects and aid in execution.

Global Advanced Solutions is a newly established function within Global Automation, that designs innovative solutions within automation and factory digitalization. We define and own global process control strategies and standards for hardware and applications development, together with domain specific architecture requirements and technical leadership.

What you will own

• Global 800xA solution development and standardization, incl. hardware and applications development.
• Development of an automation roadmap for select sites within DCS
• Better practice architecture to enable efficient scalability worldwide
• DCS anchor point for site-based automation activities like system modernization and migration plans
• Greenfield DCS standards and technologies for imminent execution

In this role you’ll make impact by

• Shaping the future for DCS in Novonesis
• Ensuring design consistency of 800xA across sites and regions
• Building and outlining the automation journey together with our future factory program
• Participating in the annual investment planning process and ensuring that operational input is collected and sufficiently matured
• Functioning as the dominant technical expect for 800xA and owning the 800xA community

Key stakeholders you will work with

• Production stakeholders of all levels, from operators to the regional VPs.
• Automation Stakeholders within Global Advanced Solutions and Global Automation
• Technology and project management stakeholders within Engineering
• IT stakeholders within IT architecture and core infrastructure
• Strategic stakeholders within the Future Factory program

To succeed, you must hold

• Minimum B.Sc. supplemented with more than 8 years of technical expertise
• Minimum 5 years of experience within automation in industrial applications, including brownfield and greenfield installation activities
• Willingness to travel globally 5 weeks per year
• Profound knowledge of 800xA system and application development
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated mastery in cross-functionally work and building relations with stakeholders at all organizational levels in addition to excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record of successful 800xA automation projects in an industrial setting
