As Sales Director for Industrial Biosolutions in Europe, you will lead the commercial agenda for a business at the forefront of the green transition. Industrial Biosolutions are a key enabler of Europe’s sustainability journey and unlocking their full potential requires strong commercial leadership.
In this role, you will set the commercial direction, drive sustainable growth, and build long-term partnerships with customers across Europe, while continuously evolving our go-to-market approach.
You will lead a commercial organization of approximately 20 employees across Europe, including two Sales Managers and work closely with Technical Service, Marketing, Supply Chain and senior regional leadership. Together you will ensure that strategy is effectively translated into consistent, high-quality commercial outcomes and tangible business impact.
The Role & Your Impact
This role combines strategy, execution, and transformation. You will own the commercial agenda for Industrial Biosolutions in Europe - shaping both immediate results and long-term direction.
Your impact will be measured by:
Profitable growth across revenue, gross margin, and commercial profit
Strong, long-term relationships with key strategic customers
A scalable, customer-centric commercial model that integrates Sales, Technical Service, and Marketing
Building a growing sales organization including developing sales managers and succession bench
You will engage across a broad industrial landscape, including strategic high-growth areas such as Oils & Fats and Bioenergy.
Your key responsibilities in this role
Lead and deliver on the commercial agenda for Industrial Biosolutions in Europe, with full accountability for revenue, gross margin, and commercial profit
Define and execute the commercial growth strategy, including clear prioritization and investment allocation
Build and expand strategic customer relationships through direct engagement with senior decision-makers
Evolve the customer engagement model and strengthen collaboration across Sales, Technical Service, and Marketing with a strong digital focus
Develop leaders and talent, ensuring succession for critical roles and role-modelling Novonesis’ Core Leadership commitments
Embed commercial excellence, including opportunity management, account planning, value selling, and distribution effectiveness
Optimize go-to-market and distribution models to ensure effective market coverage and alignment with segmentation and best practices
Ensure strong cross-functional alignment by partnering with Supply Chain on demand and forecast alignment, Global Marketing on strategy, and with Country Managers and Regional Presidents to support performance and corporate reputation
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
A technical or commercial educational background, ideally at M.Sc. level or MBA
10+ years of B2B commercial experience (including commercial strategy, negotiations, sales excellence, and complex stakeholder management)
Experience from relevant sectors such as Bioenergy, Bioprocessing, or related industries
Proven experience leading leaders and driving performance through others with clarity and accountability
A strong strategic mindset combined with the ability to drive disciplined execution
A clear customer-centric approach, focused on value creation and long-term partnerships
A team-oriented mindset – you believe that “We win as a team,” and you actively build trust, clarity and collaboration
