Join us as our new Business Development Manager at Novonesis

You will be part of our Venture Development & Support team and play a key role in driving and supporting new product development, partnerships, and market opportunities in areas that are part of Novonesis’ explorative growth strategy. You will work closely with your colleagues in the corporate Ventures & External Innovation team and with other Novonesis functions to build and mature ventures and strongly support our venture activities.

You will interact with a broad range of external partners and stakeholders, including startups, corporates partners & customers, the venture capital community and technology providers. Your external contacts will include business development professionals, scientific and technical experts, and senior decision makers across a range of industries and ecosystems.

In this role, you’ll make an impact by driving the Novonesis venture pipeline and contributing directly to the longer-term growth of Novonesis’ commercial and strategic development. This includes identifying new opportunities, strengthening partnerships, shaping strategic direction, and leading business development initiatives.

Your key tasks will include:

  • Identifying and validating opportunities through market landscaping, customer and expert engagements (including owning and making deals), prototyping, and participation in industry events & conferences
  • Creating techno-economical assessments, developing business cases, conducting comprehensive market analyses to assess strategic fit, business potential, and feasibility of opportunities
  • Developing and executing go to market strategies and identifying the capabilities required to scale opportunities, including developing or refining the product & Project portfolio
  • Identifying, maturing, and managing strategic partnerships with customers and partnership along the venture lifecycle and a variety of industries & value chains
  • Leading and managing projects, stakeholders, and cross functional teams to execute business development opportunities with impactful outcomes


We are looking for someone who:

  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys shaping new opportunities across a multitude of industry spaces where biosolutions can provide impact
  • Brings strong problem solving skills and the ability to work creatively and strategically with both commercial and technical challenges
  • Is persistent in moving opportunities forward and comfortable engaging and negotiating with external partners
  • Can communicate complex technical insights in a way that resonates with customers and partners
  • Experienced in owning external commercial and technical relationships, including a proven track record of partnership deals


You are likely to bring some of the following:

  • A master’s degree and/or PhD in a relevant life science field (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharma, Engineering), combined with strong business acumen
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, strategic project management, consulting, or similar strategy/business development roles within biotechnology or related life science industries with proven track record.
  • Experience from from industries relevant to Novonesis and a clear link to biotechnology and the application/use of biosolutions
  • A strong understanding of R&D and the ability to translate technical insights into strategic and commercial opportunities
  • Experience working with external partners, customers, and matrixed organizations – including a proven track record of deal making and external commercial partnerships
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills combined with a curious and creative mind-set and an appetite for thinking outside the box and exploring new solutions and ideas.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to independently drive multiple initiatives
  • Excellent English communication skills—written, spoken, and in presentations
