Are you motivated by solving practical digital system challenges and making business applications work smoothly for users? Do you enjoy configuring, testing, and improving business applications rather than building software from scratch?

The Novo Nordisk Foundation is seeking a technically skilled Digital Systems Specialist to join the Business Solutions team in the Department of Digital & Business Excellence.

The Digital & Business Excellence department is a cross-functional team supporting the Foundation’s strategic and digital ambitions. The department consists of 19 professionals working across four teams: Business Solutions, Business Excellence, Digital & AI, and Data Excellence. Our culture is characterised by a supportive and informal atmosphere combined with high ambitions and a strong drive to continuously improve how we work.

The position

In this role you will work hands-on with the Foundation’s current grant management system (NORMA) and related solutions, while also contributing to a project to implement and configure a new grant management system. Both systems are based on the SmartSimple platform.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Foundation and with external vendors to ensure our systems are stable, well-documented, and continuously improved to support business needs.

You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for keeping our core grant management platform effective and user-friendly. The work is varied, ranging from day-to-day system administration and testing to scoping improvements and supporting system-related projects.

The role sits in the space between technology and business processes. It suits someone who thrives in the “in-between space” – technical enough to configure, test, and troubleshoot systems, while also comfortable working with colleagues to understand needs and translate them into system improvements.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion, from understanding a problem to ensuring the solution works reliably for users.

Key tasks and responsibilities include

  •  Maintain and configure the Foundation’s grant management platform through ongoing enhancements and updates
  • Support colleagues with 2nd-level system issues in collaboration with the helpdesk
  • Test and validate new system features, configurations, and releases
  • Work with business stakeholders to scope and describe requirements for improvements
  • Collaborate with external vendors on system enhancements and releases
  • Support integrations and data flows between systems
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training material, and system guides
  • Contribute to process automation and optimisation across the system landscape

Competencies

Professional competencies

  •  Relevant education in IT, information systems, or another technical or business-related field
  • 3-6 years of experience working with configurable business applications such as CRM, grant management, ERP, or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with system configuration, testing, and trouble shooting
  • Ability to understand business processes and translate them into practical system solutions
  • Experience with process documentation and user training
  • Interest in understanding how different systems interact within a broader IT landscape
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, SQL, JavaScript, or APIs is an advantage but not required.
  • Experience with SmartSimple or other grant management platforms is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

Personal competencies

  • Curious, pragmatic, and motivated to learn new systems
  • Structured and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through
  • Comfortable working across both technical and business contexts
  • Collaborative team player who values shared outcomes
  • Comfortable balancing operational tasks with project-related work

This role focuses on configuration, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and user enablement in NORMA and related applications. It does not include cloud architecture, advanced data engineering, or people management.
