Join us in shaping the future of energy

Are you passionate about offshore engineering and ready to bring innovative thinking to complex challenges? At NOV Subsea Production Systems (SPS) in Brøndby, Copenhagen, Denmark, we are looking for a Subsea Flexible System Design Engineer to join our Pipe System Design department. In this role, you will work on project teams designing flexible pipe system configurations and performing both dynamic and in-place analyses to understand how the system behaves in the offshore environment - waves, currents, vessel motion, seabed interaction - and more.

You will join one of three international teams, contributing to projects that demand analytical rigor, multidisciplinary collaboration, and creative solutions. Your energy will help us power the industries that power the world.

About the Company

At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. Our mission is simple: we power the industry that powers the world.

At NOV’s business unit Subsea Production Systems (SPS) we empower the energy sector with passion, expertise, and forward-thinking solutions. We develop reliable and efficient subsea energy production products that enhance our customers’ energy portfolios. With strong roots in the offshore oil and gas industry, we are also at the forefront of future technologies such as water treatment, ammonia storage, carbon injection, and wind energy - helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and drive the energy transition.

SPS is headquartered in Brøndby, Denmark, with production sites in Kalundborg (DK), Porto do Acu (Br), Glenrothes (UK) and offices in Stavanger and Oslo (No), Rio de Janeiro ( Br), and Houston (US). Globally, our team includes around 1,800 dedicated professionals, contributing to NOV’s workforce of approximately 34,000 employees

  • Your energy matters and we make sure it is nurtured

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in the design and analysis of flexible pipe systems, including:

  • Designing project-specific system configurations (dynamic pipe length, buoyancy modules, bend stiffeners, tethers, etc.)
  • Building and running dynamic simulations of vessel + pipe response in offshore environments (waves, currents, motion)
  • Checking configurations for overbending, interference, and interaction with structures/neighbour lines
  • Calculating extreme and fatigue loads on pipe systems, ancillaries, and interfaces
  • Integrating project inputs into analysis models and iterating designs to optimize performance
  • Performing in-place (as-installed) global analyses to confirm system configuration, loads, and subsea equipment integrity.
  • Documenting work in reports, drawings and communicating results clearly to internal/external stakeholders
  • Experience with OrcaFlex is recommended but not required. We are happy to support training if you bring the right fundamentals and motivation.

Qualifications & skills

Essential Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or similar
