Join us in shaping the future of energy

Are you passionate about offshore engineering and ready to bring innovative thinking to complex challenges? At NOV Subsea Production Systems (SPS) in Brøndby, Copenhagen, Denmark, we are looking for a Senior Subsea Flexible System Design Engineer to join our Pipe System Design department. In this role, you will work on project teams designing flexible pipe system configurations and performing both dynamic and in-place analyses to understand how the system behaves in the offshore environment - waves, currents, vessel motion, seabed interaction - and more.

You will join one of three international teams, contributing to projects that demand analytical rigor, multidisciplinary collaboration, and creative solutions. Your energy will help us power the industries that power the world.

About the Company

At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. Our mission is simple: we power the industry that powers the world.

At NOV’s business unit Subsea Production Systems (SPS) we empower the energy sector with passion, expertise, and forward-thinking solutions. We develop reliable and efficient subsea energy production products that enhance our customers’ energy portfolios. With strong roots in the offshore oil and gas industry, we are also at the forefront of future technologies such as water treatment, ammonia storage, carbon injection, and wind energy - helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and drive the energy transition.

SPS is headquartered in Brøndby, Denmark, with production sites in Kalundborg (DK), Porto do Acu (Br), Glenrothes (UK) and offices in Stavanger and Oslo (No), Rio de Janeiro ( Br), and Houston (US). Globally, our team includes around 1,800 dedicated professionals, contributing to NOV’s workforce of approximately 34,000 employees

What We Offer

  • A dynamic, multicultural workplace
  • A strong focus on innovation, continuous learning, and career growth
  • Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package
  • 37-hour work week with flexible remote work options and overtime compensation
  • Exposure to international projects and occasional travel
  • A supportive environment with dedicated onboarding, mentorship, and training
  • A chance to see your designs realized in large-scale manufacturing at our Kalundborg site
  • Your energy matters and we make sure it is nurtured

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in the design and analysis of flexible pipe systems, including:

  • Owning system design scope and deliverables on projects (planning, execution, quality, and on-time delivery), in close alignment with project management and stakeholders
  • Acting as a technical focal point within the project team, driving decisions, resolving complex technical challenges, and coordinating interfaces across disciplines
  • Designing project-specific system configurations (dynamic pipe length, buoyancy modules, bend stiffeners, tethers, etc.)
  • Building, running, and troubleshooting OrcaFlex models for vessel + pipe response in offshore environments (waves, currents, vessel motion, seabed interaction, installation/operation scenarios)
  • Defining analysis strategy and load cases, performing extreme and fatigue assessments, and ensuring robustness of results and assumptions
  • Verifying configurations for overbending, interference, clash risk, and interaction with structures/neighbour lines
  • Performing in-place (as-installed) global analyses to confirm system configuration, loads, and subsea equipment integrity.
  • Leading technical reviews of models, calculations, and reports and supporting development of junior engineers through guidance and mentoring
  • Communicating results clearly through reports and presentations, and participating in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders (including clients where relevant)
  • Strong practical experience with OrcaFlex is mandatory for this senior position.

Qualifications & skills

Essential Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or similar
  • You have at least 5 years of experience from a similar role, working with subsea/offshore system design and dynamic analysis
  • Proven, hands-on experience with OrcaFlex building models, selecting load cases, interpreting results, and turning findings into practical design decisions
  • Strong foundation on  structural dynamics, fluid dynamics, mechanics, numerical simulation
  • Comfortable working with data, models, and engineering assumptions in a structured way
  • Demonstrated ability to take project ownership and deliver high-quality engineering work packages (including documentation and stakeholder communication)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Experience from offshore/subsea engineering, oil & gas, offshore wind, or marine structures
  • Experience delivering flexible pipe / riser / umbilical system design for offshore projects across concept, FEED, detail design and/or execution phases
  • Experienced in applying offshore/subsea standards (API/DNV)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using VBA to support engineering workflows such as calculation automation, data handling, and report-ready outputs (e.g., Excel-based tools and templates)
  • Practical Python skills for automation and tooling (data processing, batch simulations, results post-processing, report generation)
  • Previous experience in multidisciplinary teams or international environments

If you are ready to take technical ownership, drive decisions, shape smart system design solutions, and make a real impact on offshore projects, we encourage you to apply.
