About the role
At NOV SPS, the Head of Document Control is responsible for leading the global document control function within SPS’s manufacturing operations. This role oversees the entire NOV SPS Document Control ensuring standardized, efficient, and compliant document management across all projects and systems.
The Head of Document Control ensures correct allocation of resources to projects and stakeholders, supports day-to-day project and documentation operations, and keeps teams aligned, consistent, and engaged. The role is key to ensuring compliance with quality processes, meeting customer expectations, and driving continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Quality Director, the Head of Document Control plays a strategic role in ensuring that document governance, compliance, and digital transformation remain core enablers of NOV’s Quality Management System. This role is critical to establishing consistent global practices, ensuring regulatory and client compliance, and enabling digital efficiency across SPS operations.
This is a highly visible leadership position that requires collaboration with global business leaders and direct engagement with clients, regulators, and senior management.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Document Control and Project Document Control teams across Denmark and Brazil, ensuring alignment under a unified global function.
- Lead the functional ownership of the document control system landscape (RigDoc, Oracle, Teamcenter integration), ensuring consistent global use and close collaboration with IT on system maintenance, development, and scalability.
- Drive the digitalization of the Manufacturing Data Book (MDB) process, leading initiatives such as template-to-work order automation, tablet-based data capture, and metadata-driven auto-compilation.
- Ensure full compliance of all documentation with regulatory, legal, contractual, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT to embed document control processes into production workflows.
- Act as the single interface for all project document control activities, ensuring effective mobilization and coordination of global resources.
- Champion innovation in document control, leading pilots and scaling digital solutions across SPS global operations.
- Drive knowledge transfer, continuous improvement, and capability development within the Document Control and Project Support functions.
- Develop, update, and enforce procedures and guidelines; provide training; and ensure consistent practices across all projects.
- Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for global projects and document control performance, ensuring targets are met..
- Coordinate training programs, including planning, content development, and delivery to trainers and users.
- Drive adoption through training initiatives, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Champion change management and communication across departments.
- Travel is required to sites to support adoption, training, and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Management (Master’s preferred).
- 8–10 years of experience in document control, project documentation, or technical data management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in leading system implementation or optimization projects (RigDoc, Oracle, Teamcenter, or similar).
- Familiarity with quality management and data governance frameworks
- Experience managing global teams and coordinating across multiple business units and regions.
- Vendor and stakeholder management experience, including oversight of contracts and service-level agreements.
- Deep understanding of document control, data management, and business processes within engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate across functions — Engineering, Quality, Projects, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and IT.
- Proven leadership and change management capability, able to build alignment and accountability across global teams.
- Strategic thinker with an analytical and systems mindset, able to translate business needs into scalable process and system solutions.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, bridging technical and business perspectives effectively.
- Experience in digital transformation and in driving user adoption of enterprise systems and tools.
