About the role

Join NOV’s Smart Factory journey as a Digital Manufacturing Student Assistant. You’ll help us run an Industry 4.0 Maturity Assessment across production areas, collect and structure data, and turn findings into clear presentations and dashboards for leadership. The role sits at the intersection of operations and digital—expect hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, data gathering, basic analysis, and roadmap documentation. You’ll collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and IT/OT stakeholders, building a practical understanding of how factories use data to drive efficiency, quality, and traceability. 

This is a part-time, study-friendly position with a learning-oriented culture.

Main Responsibilities

  • Execute the Industry 4.0 Maturity Assessment across production areas (schedule sessions, capture evidence, score against the framework, track actions).
  • Collect, Structure, and analyse data from surveys and observations; maintain structured trackers and shared repositories.
  • Create management-ready visuals—slides, simple dashboards, and summaries that highlight gaps, priorities, and quick wins.
  • Support the Smart Factory roadmap: document use cases, owners, milestones, and KPIs; assist in preparing management presentations and dashboards.
  • Benchmark digital best practices (within NOV and externally) and present concise, actionable comparisons.
  • Contribute to basic analyses (e.g., Excel) on and support data visualisation to inform improvement ideas.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Industrial Engineering, Management Engineering, IT, or Data Science.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel (or equivalent spreadsheet tools).
  • Fluent English, spoken and written.
  • A learning-oriented mindset and curiosity about manufacturing.

Desired

  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0, digital manufacturing, or process improvement.
  • Interest in data analytics, digital transformation, or manufacturing systems.
  • Exposure to data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with different stakeholders.
