About the role

As a Data & Digital Solutions Senior Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the factory data backbone powering NOV’s Smart Factory roadmap, working within a highly skilled, autonomous, and agile team.

Your work sits at the intersection of OT and IT — connecting equipment (PLCs, sensors), MES and historians, test/development/production systems, and enterprise platforms (ERP, QMS) into a secure, reliable, and scalable data environment. You will transform raw production signals into trusted, actionable insights for operations, engineering, maintenance, and quality — enabling smarter decisions on throughput, yield, downtime, and scrap.

You’ll collaborate closely with line engineers, automation and controls specialists, production supervisors, quality engineers, and corporate IT to translate real shop-floor needs into robust data models, pipelines, and real-time dashboards.

Beyond solution delivery, you will help establish data governance, lineage, and standards that ensure solutions are resilient and reusable across NOV sites.

This is a hands-on, impact-oriented role: you’ll design and code, walk the line to validate tags, and demonstrate value through clear, measurable KPIs.

About the Company

At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. Our mission is simple: we power the industry that powers the world.

At NOV’s business unit Subsea Production Systems (SPS) we empower the energy sector with passion, expertise, and forward-thinking solutions. We develop reliable and efficient subsea energy production products that enhance our customers’ energy portfolios. With strong roots in the offshore oil and gas industry, we are also at the forefront of future technologies such as water treatment, ammonia storage, carbon injection, and wind energy—helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and drive the energy transition.

SPS is headquartered in Brøndby, Denmark, with production sites in Kalundborg (DK), Porto do Acu (Br), Glenrothes (UK) and offices in Stavanger and Oslo (No), Rio de Janeiro ( Br), and Houston (US).  Globally, our team includes around 1,500 dedicated professionals, contributing to NOV’s workforce of approximately 34,000 employees.

What We Offer

  • Permanent Employment Contract – Stability and long-term commitment in a future-focused company.
  • International Collaboration – Work with global teams and suppliers across regions.
  • Professional Growth – Ongoing learning opportunities, training, and support for your career development.
  • Competitive Compensation – Attractive salary package with medical and health insurance.

It’s a young, energetic, and collaborative environment where autonomy, curiosity, and experimentation are encouraged—and where your work with state-of-the-art technologies will have a visible impact on how our factories operate.

Main responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the factory data backbone connecting MES, historians, PLCs/sensors, and business systems.
  • Own and evolve the data architecture and models — defining naming/tagging standards, retention, security, and access principles.
  • Build and operate ETL/ELT pipelines integrating APIs/OPC UA/MQTT and other industrial protocols.
  • Deliver real-time dashboards & datasets (e.g., OEE, yield, downtime) to enable self-service analytics and better decisions.
  • Establish data quality, lineage, and governance with automated monitoring, alerting, and validation checks.
  • Ensure scalability and reuse across sites via standardized interfaces and templates.
  • Enable end-to-end traceability across production/lab/maintenance data; support audits and compliance.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, IT/OT, vendors) to translate use cases into scalable solutions.
  • Strengthen reliability and security of the OT–IT bridge (backup/restore, roles/permissions, cyber hygiene).
  • Document and coach—publish playbooks/standards and train engineers & super-users to sustain adoption.

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial IT, Data Science or similar.
  • 3–6 years in digital manufacturing, data engineering, or industrial analytics.
  • Strong skills in relational database design and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with data-integration protocols (APIs, OPC UA, MQTT, etc.).
  • Experience developing data pipelines and visualization dashboards.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial data context.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Plus: exposure to data architecture, integration methods, and manufacturing software; learning-oriented mindset.

Desired

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
  • Working knowledge of MES or historian systems.
  • Python or scripting for ETL/automation.
  • Familiarity with Industrial IoT or digital twins.
  • Strong analytical mindset and cross-functional communication
