Job Overview:
The Vessel Manager Marine is responsible for maintaining high navigational standards on assigned vessels, supporting those vessels in day-to-day operation and advising in navigation, mooring and cargo operations. Support vessels in commercial inspections. The Vessel Manager Marine reports to the Fleet Marine Manager based in Gdynia.
The Vessel Manager Marine vacancy can be based in either Gdynia or Copenhagen.
Responsibilities:
- Support assigned vessels and provide guidance on day-to-day operations relating to marine, cargo, and vetting matters.
- Attend vessels to carry out navigational assessments.
- Review Ship-to-Ship (STS) operation plans and authorise vessels for STS activities.
- Support the vetting coordinator in administrative processes.
- Prepare for inspections, support during inspections, and draft responses to identified vetting observations.
- Provide appropriate training and support in relation to vetting inspections.
- Ensure adherence to the established vetting regime.
- Conduct incident investigations when appointed.
- Attend vessels to carry out technical inspections at prescribed intervals.
- Provide advice to vessels in preparation for US Coast Guard (USCG) inspections.
- Address urgent Port State Control deficiencies requiring immediate action.
- Interview candidates and conduct periodic appraisals of senior deck officers.
- Support commercial operations with vessel screening and clearance processes.
- Assist the training department in the development of various training programmes (e.g. safety, cargo, navigation, commercial inspections).
- Liaise with Flag Authorities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Review port and terminal assessments and share relevant information with the fleet.
- Provide mooring and anchoring guidance to the fleet.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS) and internal procedures.
Requirements:
- Master Mariner or Chief Officer with seagoing experience on gas carriers.
- Experience in a Marine Superintendent / HSEQ Manager position or similar role would be desirable but not mandatory.
- Track record of delivering outstanding performance and/or risk management.
- Strong team player with the ability to engage others and develop shared objectives.
- Availability to travel 15% of the time.
Desirable:
- Incident/accident investigation.
- Certified Navigational Auditor.
- Familiar with commercial inspection programs (OCIMF/SIRE, CDI)
