Roles and responsibilities

The Industrial Postdoc will lead advanced applied research on next-generation AI for large-scale Video Management Systems (VMS), focusing on agentic AI, context-aware multi-camera tracking, and lifecycle management (MLOps).

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead research on context-aware multi-camera tracking and re-identification at scale
• Design agentic AI systems that autonomously coordinate camera networks 
• Develop operator-centric decision support, including uncertainty estimation and explainability
• Architect MLOps pipelines for monitoring, drift detection, GDPR-compliant retraining, and auditability
• Integrate research prototypes into Milestone XProtect and validate in real-world SOC deployments
• Conduct benchmarking on large-scale public datasets and proprietary industrial data
• Publish in top-tier conferences and journals (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI, IJCV)
• Contribute to patent evaluations and technology transfer into product roadmaps
• Act as a technical anchor between academic research and industrial engineering teams

What we are looking for: 

Technical & Research skills

• You must have a PhD degree before you start working on this position.
• Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch. 
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
• Strong interest and background in computer vision, and machine learning. 
• High motivation, a high level of commitment, a proactive and positive attitude. 
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. 

Professional skills

• Proven research independence and technical leadership
• Ability to translate research into deployable, robust systems
• Experience working across academia-industry boundaries

Your Team 

The Research team in Emerging AI is responsible for, among others, developing machine learning algorithms for promising products and/or ideas with impact across different products of Milestone’s portfolio. 
We are a group of research scientists (at different levels of seniority) that work closely with our Products to develop cutting edge solutions also in collaboration with different universities, by supporting under/postgraduate students, PhD students, and Postdocs.
