Roles and responsibilities

The Industrial PhD student will conduct cutting-edge applied research at the intersection of computer vision, multimodal AI, and video management systems (VMS). The role bridges academic research excellence with real-world industrial deployment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work with context-aware vision–language models
• Develop methods for decision confidence estimation and explainable AI in security operations
• Implement and validate prototypes within Milestone XProtect and real security environments
• Conduct experiments on public benchmarks and proprietary datasets
• Publish results in top-tier conferences and journals
• Participate in knowledge transfer activities with product, and end-users
   

What we are looking for :

Technical & Academic skills

• MSc in in computer vision, machine learning, or related topics
• Experience with deep learning, multimodal models, or representation learning
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch preferred)
• Familiarity with large-scale datasets and experimental evaluation
• Interest in human-AI interaction, explainability, or trustworthy AI 

Research & Professional skills

• Strong background in computer vision and machine learning
• Experience with deep learning, multimodal models, or representation learning
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch preferred)
• Familiarity with large-scale datasets and experimental evaluation
• Interest in human-AI interaction, explainability, or trustworthy AI (desired)

Your Team 

The Research team in Emerging AI is responsible for, among others, developing machine learning algorithms for promising products and/or ideas with impact across different products of Milestone’s portfolio. 
We are a group of research scientists (at different levels of seniority) that work closely with our Products to develop cutting edge solutions also in collaboration with different universities, by supporting under/postgraduate students, PhD students, and Postdocs.
