At MapsPeople, we’re looking to expand the MapsPeople Finance team with a driven Business Controller with a strong interest in business to join our team in Copenhagen. You will combine your solid finance skills with a curiosity and drive to be part of business support for the company and to work with the different business owners on business development.

We are looking for a Finance Business Controller who can act as a strategic partner to the business while playing a central role in our financial operations.

The Role

You will join our Finance team in Copenhagen and work closely with the CFO, Finance Manager, and Finance Assistant. In this role, you will contribute across both strategic and operational finance activities, supporting decision-making and driving financial transparency across our four group companies.

As Business Controller your key responsibilities will be:

  • Strategic Financial Planning & Reporting: You'll build and manage key SaaS metrics (ARR, MRR, churn, LTV/CAC), own the financial forecasting process, and deliver strategic financial reports to the executive team and board.
  • Business Partnership & Decision Support: You will act as an advisor to department heads, providing financial insights to inform critical decisions related to product pricing, marketing spend, and operational efficiency to drive profitable growth.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Due Diligence: You will play a role in evaluating potential acquisition targets by conducting financial due diligence, creating valuation models, and integrating the acquired company's financials post-acquisition.

While the Finance Manager is on maternity leave you will also be responsible for:

  • Financial Operations & Reporting:
  • You will oversee and/or assist the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll across our 4 group companies in Denmark , US, Canada and Singapore.
  • You'll also be responsible for preparing and presenting accurate financial monthly reports to leadership.
  • Cash Flow Management & Forecasting: You will manage and forecast the company's cash flow to ensure we have the necessary capital for our daily operations and future growth.
  • Team Leadership & Process Improvement: You will manage a small team, providing guidance and support to ensure financial processes are efficient and accurate. You will also lead initiatives to improve financial systems and workflows as we scale.
  • External Partner Management: You will serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, including auditors, tax professionals, and banking institutions, ensuring all compliance and reporting requirements are met.

Qualifications & Experience

  • You must have completed your Bachelor (HD) or a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and is confident in handling complex financial processes
  • Typically 4-5 years of experience within finance, controlling, audit, or related roles
  • Senior finance or business controlling experience with broad exposure
  • Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Management reporting and financial analysis
  • Statutory reporting, audits, and compliance with IFRS and Danish accounting regulations
  • Experience working closely with senior management
  • Experience with cross-functional and strategic initiatives
  • International or growth-oriented experience is beneficial
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for complex financial topics
  • Trusted sparring partner to the CFO and senior stakeholders
  • Provides clear financial perspectives and constructive challenge
  • Contributes to continuity and knowledge sharing
  • Relevant professional qualification (Cand.merc.aud., CMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
