Category Manager – Project Procurement

About MCI:

Production of our MCI container box and Star Cool refrigeration machine takes place in China. With our newest product, Sekstant, customers gain real-time data access to monitor the performance and temperature of their goods during transport.

About the role:

At Maersk Container Industry (MCI), we are on an exciting journey towards the next generation of reefer machines, including new and modern platforms for controlled applications and remote communication. As our new Category Manager – Project Procurement, you will play a key role in managing and executing procurement activities related to electronics outsourcing, as well as electrical and electronic components.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Procurement, R&D, Production, Quality, and other functions, while working with external suppliers worldwide. You will join our Category Management team, a group of experienced and dedicated professionals — and contribute directly to our strategy and supplier performance, helping us deliver value to our customers.

Your key responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

• Be overall responsible for key component suppliers, distributors, and EMS contracts

• Lead the selection and approval of new suppliers together with R&D, Quality, and other stakeholders

• Create and maintain pricing in bills of material during the project development phase

• Act as the main contact for electronics suppliers regarding change requests, negotiations, and cost-down initiatives

• Support development teams with purchasing sample materials and equipment

• Provide input to supply chain strategies for new products

• Participating in project meetings throughout the product development and launch process

• Continuously improve MCI best practices and guidelines

• Ensure strong cross-functional stakeholder management

We are looking for someone who:

• Has at least 5 years of experience in procurement of electronic components and/or electronics manufacturing services (EMS)

• Has an established network within electronics components and manufacturing

• Possesses a solid technical understanding of electronics (e.g., electrical engineering background)

• Demonstrates strong analytical and commercial capabilities

• Is proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Is a skilled communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
