Backend Engineer for FCP

As we continue our journey, we are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) squad.

The FCP team is the "engine room" of Lunar’s integrity. We are responsible for building the technical controls that keep our platform safe from money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes. You will play a critical role in designing and operating the systems that monitor millions of transactions and ensure our KYC/CDD processes are "out of this world."

What will you do?

• Build & Scale: Design and implement robust backend services and data pipelines (batch and real-time) to handle transaction monitoring and automated alerting.

• Modern Tech Stack: Work with microservices and APIs within a cloud-native environment, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS primitives.

• Real-time Detection: Utilize event and stream processing (Kafka/RabbitMQ) to build high-performance systems for real-time threat detection.

• Domain Integration: Translate complex regulatory requirements (Sanctions, Screening, AML) into elegant technical controls.

• Collaborate for Impact: Partner closely with Risk and Compliance teams to design, document, and audit controls—ensuring our models are explainable and our evidence trails are bulletproof.

• Operational Excellence: Take end-to-end ownership of your services, from testing and observability to participating in on-call rotations for customer-impacting systems.

What are we looking for in you?

• Solid Backend Experience: Proven track record in production-grade backend or data engineering, specifically with microservices and APIs.

• Cloud & Infrastructure Savvy: Comfort with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one major cloud provider (preferably AWS).

• Streaming Expertise: Hands-on experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar event-driven architectures.

• FinCrime Exposure: Experience or a strong interest in the Financial Crime domain (KYC, AML, Sanctions, or Investigations).

• A Collaborative Spirit: The ability to work across functions, particularly with non-technical stakeholders in Risk and Compliance.

• Quality Mindset: A focus on testing, monitoring, and building for long-term reliability.
