Job summary

This role involves providing maternity cover as a laboratory technician or research assistant focused on antibody engineering for a 12-month fixed term. The position is centered on protein expression in mammalian cells to support the development of antibody-based biotherapeutics for brain diseases.

Qualifications

  • Education as a lab technician or a Master’s degree in a Life Science discipline.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, particularly in protein expression using HEK293 and CHO cells.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Additional skills in molecular biology, protein purification, and data management are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct protein expression in HEK293 and CHO cell lines using various scales from multi-well plates to bioreactors.
  • Maintain cell cultures and ensure laboratory cleanliness and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan experiments and analyze data.
  • Potential involvement in protein purification, characterization, and functional profiling of antibodies.

Skills

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in a multicultural environment.
  • Technical proficiency in molecular biology techniques and data management.

Education

  • Lab technician qualification or Master’s degree in Life Sciences.

Tools

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment for cell culture and protein expression.
