Accountabilities:- Lead the design and development of backend systems, APIs, and integrations that support critical product capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of frontend engineers, SREs, and QA specialists within dedicated product-focused development squads.
- Contribute to the full lifecycle of software development, from architecture discussions and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Build scalable and maintainable services using modern backend frameworks and database technologies.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code standards and sharing constructive feedback with team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical and business-related issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Support platform improvements by researching, proposing, and implementing architectural enhancements.
- Contribute to engineering initiatives such as hiring processes, technical discussions, documentation, and internal knowledge sharing.
- Mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence.
Requirements:
- Significant professional experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, including delivering and maintaining complex software systems in production environments.
- Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or similar technologies.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or comparable solutions.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, API design, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in distributed teams and contribute to asynchronous workflows.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems.
- Nice to have: experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, or Haskell.
- Familiarity with modern cloud and container technologies such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to modern frontend technologies such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular is considered a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and support other engineers within the team.
