We are seeking a Founding Investigative Reporter to join an ambitious, evidence-driven news organization dedicated to producing rigorous, high-impact journalism. This role offers the unique opportunity to help build a newsroom from the ground up, shaping editorial standards, investigative methodology, and journalistic culture. You will tackle complex topics of national significance, uncovering new information, challenging established narratives, and producing deeply researched stories that inform the public and hold power accountable. Working independently and collaboratively, you will combine traditional reporting, data analysis, and document research to produce content across multiple formats. This is a high-visibility, intellectually rewarding role for journalists committed to integrity, accuracy, and public service.

• Conceive, research, and write investigative stories that uncover new information and hold institutions accountable.
• Conduct original investigations using public records, confidential sources, data analysis, and document verification.
• Fact-check and audit major claims across outlets and formats to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Produce content across multiple formats, including long-form investigations, breaking news, and analytical pieces.
• Uphold the highest journalistic ethics, intellectual honesty, and editorial standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues to refine investigative methodology and support newsroom initiatives.

• Significant experience in investigative journalism, research, or reporting at a recognized newsroom, investigative organization, or academic institution.
• Portfolio demonstrating original reporting, analytical depth, and intellectual rigor.
• Strong writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience handling confidential sources and sensitive information.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small founding team.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Preferred: 5–10 years of focused investigative reporting at high-standard news organizations; recognition through national or international journalism awards.

• Competitive annual compensation ranging from USD $60,000–$180,000 based on experience and seniority.
