About the role

Job summary

This role involves leading the commissioning and delivery of original documentary content for a streaming service in the Nordic region. The position focuses on shaping impactful local stories that align with the brand's values and standards.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in documentary development and production, preferably in a streaming or broadcasting context, with a proven track record of successful deliveries.
  • Strong editorial judgment and a comprehensive understanding of documentary storytelling and narrative structure from inception to final product.
  • A passion for impactful unscripted storytelling, emphasizing editorial integrity, factual accuracy, and creative quality.
  • Familiarity with the Nordic documentary landscape and talent, along with experience in multi-market or international collaborations.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one Nordic language.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee documentary projects from initial pitch through development, production, post-production, and final delivery, balancing creative ambition with practical and ethical considerations.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on pitches, treatments, scripts, and cuts to enhance storytelling and structure.
  • Identify and advocate for high-impact documentary ideas, influencing greenlight decisions and developing a strategic content slate.
  • Organize and manage development and production timelines, budgets, and delivery standards across the Nordics.
  • Work closely with directors, producers, and creative partners to refine narratives and resolve editorial or production challenges.
  • Ensure all projects meet brand standards and audience expectations, maintaining quality and compliance oversight.
  • Foster strong relationships within the Nordic documentary community and collaborate with internal teams (Production, Legal, Finance, PR, Marketing, and Operations) to ensure effective project delivery.

Education

  • Relevant degree in Film, Media, or a related field is preferred.
