Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in compiler construction or related fields.
  • 2 years of experience building developer tools (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience with software development in Java or Kotlin programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience as a contributor to an open source project. Contributor to github or stackoverflow.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

In this role, you will join the Android Studio team to build new features for Kotlin development. You will work at the forefront of Android innovation, making Kotlin the preferred language for Android in 2019, over 95% of top Play Store applications now use it. You will partner with JetBrains to expand Kotlin tooling including Multiplatform support, Compose, Live Edit and Android Lint. You will work on the Kotlin Compiler, Integrated Development Environment (IDE) features, and related developer tools to support this growing ecosystem.Android is Google’s mobile operating system powering more than 3 billion devices worldwide. Responsibilities:

  • Build out new features in the Kotlin Compiler, Android Studio and other related tooling to make Android developers using Kotlin even more productive.
  • Maintain and develop existing Google owned features in the Kotlin Compiler.
  • Collaborate effectively with multiple teams, inside and outside of Google.
  • Direct your technical contributions in a mostly self-guided manner.
