 Pheromone Discovery and Strain Development, Group Leader

As a Leader of the Pheromone Discovery and Strain Development Group within our Agricultural Solutions Global R&D organization. In this position, you will leverage your expertise in Metabolic Engineering, Synthetic Biology, and people leadership to drive the development of advanced biocontrol products that support sustainable farming practices. As a key contributor to the Plant Health R&D organization, you will play an instrumental role in shaping its future direction, fostering innovation, and leading a team of experts dedicated to delivering next-generation solutions for the agricultural sector.

What you'll do with us:

• Lead the Pheromone Discovery and Strain Development research program, setting strategic direction and ensuring delivery of innovative, high-quality results.
• Drive pheromone production strain optimization using synthetic biology approaches, including rational strain design, high-throughput testing, and data-driven bioinformatics integration.
• Oversee the discovery and evaluation of new pheromone opportunities, building a robust pipeline of future product innovations.
• Represent the pheromone strain development and discovery function in project teams and in cross-functional collaborations with fermentation process development and tech. centre analytics, bioinformatics and date management marketing and external research partners.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of highly skilled scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
• Implement and continuously improve team structures, workflows, and processes to enhance efficiency and alignment with global R&D objectives.

Your qualification & attributes:

• PhD in Metabolic Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, with 7+ years of experience in an industrial research environment.
• Proven expertise in industrial production strain development, metabolic engineering, biosynthetic pathway analysis, microbial expression systems, and bioinformatics.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, with a minimum of 5 years managing research teams and driving high-performing results.
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets effectively.
• Track record of innovative and strategic thinking applied to research and development within a cross-functional, collaborative environment.
• Ability to build and maintain productive partnerships across internal and external stakeholders to advance research objectives.
