Senior Java Developer with architecture experience to join our digital journey

The Group & Enterprise Applications department in DSV Global IT is looking for an experienced Java Developer with an eye for architecture to be the link between the Product Owner and the development team to ensure delivery of real value.

You will be a part of the Digital Products team in Group & Enterprise Applications where we are responsible for developing and operating modern products within Sustainability. Our purpose is to generate direct business value for DSV’s group functions by building digital products and microservices that are in line with DSV’s digital strategy.

The position is based in DSV HQ in Hedehusene.

As a senior Back-end Developer you're assigned to a product team and work closely with other developers, DevOps engineers, and business experts worldwide to design DSV's future digital experiences. We have several products you could be part of developing, and one of them will be ‘CO2 service’, which is a service that receives shipment information for calculations and return a CO2 emission value to invoices and for reporting.


Play your part in the development of secure, scalable, and high-quality products
As a part of your role, you will work closely with the Product Owner and help with translating the business requirements into an application design that is in line with DSV guidelines and digital strategy. Besides that, your responsibility will be to build, test, and deploy the software using our standard CI/CD pipelines as well as building micro services for processing data, reading/writing to the database, exploring data to other applications, and more.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

• Define and drive the use of appropriate architectural patterns for different solution contexts (e.g. event-driven data streaming, request/response services, and batch/file-based integrations).
• Ensure observability standards are established and followed, including structured logging, integration with central monitoring platforms, and definition of relevant alerting strategies.
• Set technical quality standards and ensure solutions are validated from a functional, reliability, performance, and scalability perspective.
• Establish and promote security-by-design principles, including federated authentication, authorization models, and role-based access control.
• Engaging in a “guild” for backend developers to share knowledge, technical patterns and ways of working across product teams.
• Define and govern technology choices and application/infrastructure architecture with focus on reusability, standardization, and cost efficiency.
• Design and maintain the domain target architecture together with Product Owner and guide product teams in aligning their solutions with it.
• Ensure solution documentation is produced and maintained in alignment with DSV’s documentation standards and overall technology strategy.

We imagine that you have a broad experience with as many of the technologies we use, and the most important ones are:

• Backend applications: Mostly coded in Java
• Event streaming: Confluent Kafka (KStreams etc.)
• Database technologies: Mostly MongoDB Atlas (and some PostgreSQL)

• Requirements: Jira
