Internship in Group Sustainability

DFDS is a leading European shipping and logistics company, connecting businesses and people across borders through reliable ferry and freight services. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, DFDS is committed to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its operations to create long-term value for stakeholders. The Group Sustainability team drives the internal policies that align with global standards and industry best practices.

We are seeking a MBA intern from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) to conduct a comprehensive review of our ESG strategy, with a strong focus on the following areas:

  • Analyse and evaluate our internal ESG policies and governance strategy, identifying gaps and recommending improvements to strengthen compliance and accountability.
  • Research global ESG developments, benchmark industry best practices, and propose a strategy that balances sustainability goals with our business objective.

Objectives:

  • Assess the current DFDS and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Provide actionable recommendations tailored to our business context.

Scope of Work:

  • Review DFDS ESG policy and governance structures.
  • Conduct comparative analysis of global ESG trends, standards and current developments.
  • Prepare a final report with strategic recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the overall ESG strategy.
  • Detailed scope will be further refined with the student prior to beginning of internship period

Expected Outcomes:

  • Detailed analysis and recommendations on DFDS ESG strategy, with a focus on internal governance and policies based on findings of the analysis.
  • Practical roadmap for implementing improvements.

Tools/Technologies:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Public ESG databases and industry reports
  • DFDS internal databases and interviews (subject to signing an NDA)
  • CBS academic resources

About you

Are you eager to deepen your knowledge within Sustainability, and do you have a strong work ethic and passion for learning? Then this internship is for you!

You are:

  • Studying an MBA at Copenhagen Business School with a focus on sustainability, strategy, or finance and ready for an internship in summer 2026.
  • An effective communicator with strong analytical thinking, research capabilities and a collaborative approach.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

A background in Governance and Sustainability is welcome, and familiarity with ESG concepts, corporate governance, or sustainability projects can be a plus — though enthusiasm and a willingness to learn matter most.

This internship will run from May to August 2026
