Developing hearing aid solutions means working with complex, highly interconnected systems, where algorithms, hardware, and user-facing configuration must come together seamlessly to make a real difference in people’s lives. In the Audiological Solutions group at Demant, we work closely across disciplines to turn ideas into reliable, high-quality audiological solutions that help people hear better and live better.
In this role, you will play an important part in shaping new feedback-management functionality, spanning early concept exploration through embedded implementation, system integration, and verification on real hearing aids. Working in close collaboration with algorithm designers, embedded software developers, system engineers, and testers, you will contribute to solutions that are robust, scalable, and ready for everyday use. Openness, trust, and shared ownership are central to how we work, and guided by our team’s principles of care, collaboration, and curiosity, your work will directly support products that improve quality of life for our users.
As part of our Scrum team, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, contributing to the full development lifecycle of audiological algorithms. You will participate in concept and maturation phases, technical discussions, iterations, and presentations, developing a deep understanding of algorithm behaviour, strengths, limitations, and edge cases.
You will analyse dynamic ranges, numerical stability, and feasibility for fixed-point implementation, evaluate interactions with other algorithms, optimise parameters, and make informed recommendations to stakeholders. As concepts move toward implementation, you will help transition floating-point models (e.g., Simulink) to fixed-point embedded solutions, collaborating with software developers to ensure high-quality, implementable results.
You will define robust parameter-handling strategies, deciding which parameters are user-tunable and which remain fixed, while ensuring flexibility for future configurations and program-dependent behaviour. You will manage algorithm configurations for different use cases, support re-optimisation on real hearing aids, and oversee interactions between algorithms and system features.
Verification and validation are central to the role. You will test implementations across models, embedded systems, test setups, and real devices, defining and applying methods to assess quality and communicate results clearly. Additionally, you will contribute to system design, integration with fitting software, requirements refinement, and testing strategies, supporting field testing and sharing insights with cross-disciplinary teams.
You hold an M.Sc. in Engineering with a background in signal processing, acoustics, psychoacoustics, control systems, or a related field, and ideally have experience working with audiological or other embedded real-time systems. You bring a strong foundation in DSP, adaptive systems, and numerical methods, along with a solid understanding of floating-point versus fixed-point implementation challenges and experience analysing dynamic ranges, stability, and algorithm interactions in complex systems. You have hands-on experience with modelling, simulation, and verification workflows, and approach problems analytically, breaking down complexity into actionable steps.
You are comfortable working across concept, implementation, and verification phases within a structured, iterative development setup, and thrive in close cross-functional collaboration. You communicate clearly and structure technical conclusions for diverse stakeholders, value documentation and traceability, and contribute to solutions that scale across platforms. You are confident navigating a large organisation, proactively engaging relevant experts and decision-makers, and contributing effectively within a SAFe-based environment. #LI-HYBRID #LI-CC1
