We are looking for a researcher with deep expertise in nanofabrication, III-V and SiN photonic platforms, nonlinear optics, and integrated laser systems — combined with the drive to translate cutting-edge concepts into experimentally validated devices.

By joining us, you will operate at the absolute forefront of heterogeneous photonic integration, develop high-performance nonlinear and laser components, publish in leading journals, build international collaborations. This position is designed to accelerate your transition toward scientific independence and leadership in integrated photonics.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The purpose of this position is to advance heterogeneous integration of III-V materials and silicon nitride (SiN) platforms for high-performance nonlinear photonic components and integrated laser systems. The postdoc will develop and optimize fabrication processes enabling low-loss waveguides, high-Q resonators, and efficient nonlinear devices. The role combines hands-on nanofabrication, device design and characterization, process development, and strategic research expansion through external funding. The candidate is expected to contribute scientifically, technically, and strategically to strengthening the group’s position in nonlinear and integrated photonics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fabrication processes for III-V and SiN photonic devices
  • Realize low-loss waveguides and high-Q resonators
  • Implement heterogeneous integration of III-V gain with SiN platforms
  • Fabricate and characterize nonlinear components and integrated lasers
  • Optimize process flows for performance, yield, and scalability
  • Publish results in leading journals and present internationally
  • Contribute to proposal writing and fundraising activities

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field
  • Hands-on cleanroom experience (stepper, e-beam lithography, dry/wet etching, thin-film deposition, bonding, micro-transfer printing)
  • Experience with III-V (AlGaAs or InP) semiconductors and SiN photonic platforms
  • Strong background in nonlinear optics or integrated laser physics
  • Experience with photonic device design (e.g., Lumerical, FDTD/FEM tools)
  • Track record of high-quality publications
  • Experience in grant writing or participation in funded projects is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment
