DTUs Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science holds, along with other areas, DTUs expertise within data science. In particular, the Section for Statistics and Data Analysis is responsible for a large part of the university teaching at DTU in statistical methods. 

Responsibilities and qualifications
Applicants for the post of part-time lecturer must have a master’s degree, as well as additional qualifications at a high level, for example, particular areas of specialisation, expertise or practical experience achieved through employment involving practical application of the discipline. Teaching qualifications form part of the basis of the assessment.

If you are a statistician, data scientist or engineer with expertise in analysis of variance, and have an interest in research based university teaching, this may be a position for you. You will be responsible for teaching of basic applied statistical methods, and in particular analysis of variance models that incorporate dependencies from random effects elements. While maintaining a strict mathematical foundation, emphasis in the teaching will be on interpretation, applicability and general domain science translation of results. You will have the opportunity to interact with highly qualified lecturers with knowledge of the research area and similar curricula. Opportunities to modify and/or further develop teaching topics and course material will be part of the position, following both interests and the progression in teaching needs of the department.

You will have:

  • A master’s degree in engineering, statistics, mathematics or a similar field
  • A PhD degree is preferable
  • An interest for research-based teaching
  • I high personal integrity
  • Knowledge and expertise in the specific area of teaching, from previous teaching, practical experience and/or employment. Knowledge of advanced models for covariance structures, and hands-on expertise from case work, is desirable
  • Documented teaching experience at university level or similar

You will join a section where teaching is closely linked to practical applications, and where cooperation with eg. industry put the learning objectives of the teaching into an applied perspective, that maintains the highest level of science. The environment forsters cooperation in teaching and research, which you as a skilled scientist may find quite rewarding.

In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to the ability to teach and communicate clearly.

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement for part-time lecturers at universities and other institutions.

The annual number of workhours is expected to be 300 hours. Starting date is 1 September 2026 (according to mutual agreement).
