Established by the Novo Nordisk Foundation in 2018, BII promotes collaborative, interdisciplinary, research-based innovation in the Life Sciences, Quantum Science, and Deep Tech and helps build viable start-up companies to ensure that such innovations become widely available for the benefit of people and society.
This is where Bio Studio comes into the picture, which is one of BII’s programs supporting the creation of viable start-ups. Bio Studio is our company-creation program that aims to build life science start-ups based on world-class research. Bio Studio projects are three years, grant-funded projects sourced from leading researchers worldwide. Selected for their scientific novelty, commercial potential, and societal and/or health impact, each project forms a dedicated team based at BII and led by an Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR), which is expected to become the core of the future start-up company. Teams have access to laboratory facilities, office space, and BII’s network of industry experts, investors, and advisors to support scientific development, IP, commercialization, and fundraising.

About the project and the role
As a Research Scientist / Research Associate you will join a team developing new therapeutics for cardiometabolic diseases, with the goal of advancing the research into a startup company within three years as part of Bio Studio.
You will play a key hands-on role in the experimental work supporting this program. As part of a small and highly collaborative team, you will perform cell-based assays, support protein production and purification, and contribute to biochemical characterization. Working closely with the Lead Scientist and EiR, you will help generate high-quality data that advances the program toward startup creation. Specifically, you will play an instrumental role in the following role responsibilities:
