Drive meaningful change

Are you ready to take your data engineering skills to the next level? This role gives you full ownership of designing, building and scaling data solutions involving pipelines and infrastructure in a modern, cloud-native environment. You’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies, influence platform decisions, and help shape how data drives impact across the company.

This is a chance to build on our core platform, solve real data challenges, and leave your mark on a growing platform.

Get a glimpse of our world

We’re looking for a curious and ambitious Data Engineer who is excited not only about building data pipelines, but you care about how things are built – the tooling, the architecture, the reliability and the scalability behind the scenes.

You’ll join a team responsible for the backbone of the data platform that analytics, BI, our AI and ML use cases depend on. We work with a modern data stack, collaborate closely across teams and tackle real-world data problems at scale.

You’ll have room to experiment, bring ideas forward, and actively influence the evolution of our cloud data platform as we grow. If shaping a modern data platform excites you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Are you ready to embark on this journey with us?

As a Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build, and own scalable batch and streaming data pipelines that power analytics, BI, and AI/ML use cases

  • Shape and evolve our core data platform, contributing to architectural decisions, shared frameworks, and platform tooling

  • Collaborate closely with analytics, BI, AI, ML and engineering teams to design high-impact, reliable data solutions

  • Build robust, production-grade data ingestion systems integrating data from diverse internal and external sources

  • Contribute to improve data reliability and trust through data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and observability

  • Work across data integration, storage optimization, and performance tuning to support growth at scale

  • Support and improve cloud infrastructure for data workloads, including compute, storage, and access control

  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve pipeline and platform issues using our observability and monitoring tools

  • Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and cost efficiency

  • Stay up to date with emerging data engineering trends and apply modern best practices to continuously improve the platform

  • Share knowledge and contribute to best practices, supporting team growth and continuous improvement across the team

You will work hands-on with technologies such as:

  • Azure Databricks

  • Azure Data/Delta Lake

  • Python & PySpark

  • SQL

  • Azure DevOps

  • Monte Carlo (Data Observability)

  • Azure Data Factory  Git

  • …and more!

Fuel for your success in the role

You’re motivated by building high-quality data services and enjoy working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. You like solving complex problems, care about reliability, and are always curious about better ways to do things.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering with a data focus,  or a related field

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

  • Solid experience working with Python for data processing and automation

  • Comfort working with Git in a collaborative development workflow

  • Working knowledge of SQL, including writing queries and performing data transformation tasks.

  • Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

  • Experience with data manipulation and data quality practices, including wrangling, cleansing and validation

  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • A proactive, continuous-learning mindset

  • Good written and spoken skills in English

What makes this role interesting

  • You’ll work on the core data platform that power analytics and decision-making across the whole Abacus Medicine Group

  • Exposure to modern data stacks and real-world scale challenges

  • Opportunities to influence platform architecture decisions as you grow

  • Hands-on experience with automation, observability, and reliability at scale

It is an advantage if you have experience or interest in:

  • Azure Data / Delta Lake for efficient storage and processing of big data

  • Streaming or event-driven architectures

  • Data governance, lineage, and access management

  • Apache Spark and Databricks

  • PySpark

  • Orchestration tools  (Azure Data Factory, Airflow, etc)

  • Data modeling and transformation concepts

  • CI/CD practices.
